"Children thrive in secure, consistent environments. Similarly, programs designed to expand the cognitive and psychological abilities of children need the security of long-term commitment." - Art Rolnick
"A kid's emotions and personality are just as important as I.Q." - Edward Zigler, Ph.D.
"There's so much more to human development than being able to decode words." - Edward Zigler, Ph.D.
"Helping our youngest children develop their life and learning skills results in better citizens and more productive workers." - Art Rolnick
"We have the opportunity to shape a child's life for the better." - Sandy Escobido
"Passion to make sure all children were taught in a way that truly nurtured their ability to grow and develop to their fullest abilities." -Louise Derman-Sparks
I concur with the quote by Art Rolnick about children thriving in secure environments. I personally feel and have seen that when children don't have the weight of the world on their shoulders at home they can focus better at school. I wish that all children could feel safe, love and nurtured at home. When working in the early childhood field advocacy is of upmost importance.
ReplyDeleteI love the statement by Sandy Escobido. Obtaining the knowledge in the Early Childhood Education can help educators better service the children they are working with. We have the opprotunity to show the children in the classroom that there is more to the world than what they see in their neighborhoods and homes.
From seeing your posts over the past few weeks, I believe you truly fulfill your education career the way these statements speak about educators and our roles.
The quotes you have chosen and the people that inspire you connect with their special education training and degree 100%. I also chose Louise Derman-Sparks. She wants equality for all children. Louise knows not all children learn the same and I see the same passion in you. You want all children to have developmentally appropriate experiences so they can succeed to their fullest potential.
ReplyDeleteI also believe we "shape each child's life for the better"(Sandy Escobido). To do this, we must get to know each individual child on a personal level. Teachers must help children find their path, not show them the path we want them to follow.
I love the Edward Zigler quotes. He truly believes in the whole child. I feel like sometimes education focuses on a test score. We push kids beyond their developmental needs especially in early childhood. He reminds us that there is so much more than a number.
ReplyDeleteI agree with your quote by Sandy Escobido. I think being a good role model is a big influence in a child's life.
ReplyDeleteI like your quote from Derman-Sparks. As professionals in the Early Childhood field, it is essential to have passion, and drive! Thank you for sharing.
